DP23 Firmware Updater (with the DP2-AOU System)

General

This software updates the firmware of the following Evident camera models to the given versions:

• DP23 (DP23-CU Type 2) → update to version 3.1.22316

The camera’s model designation and type information are given on its type-plate. Cameras other than the DP23 model (DP23-CU Type 2) are not supported by this version of the software.

Changes/Corrections

The new firmware version corrects the following issues:

• Depending on the selected camera mirroring setting, subarrays with a height of 29 pixels that are either located at the upper or lower image border are underexposed. 

Affected Cameras

Cameras within the following serial number ranges are affected:

• DP23: SN 68200001–SN 68207661

The serial number of the camera can be found on its type-plate and on the barcode label that is attached to the packaging box.

The current firmware version of the camera can also be verified inside the DP2-AOU software.

1. Turn on the DP2-AOU.
2. Click the Acquisition Settings button
   
    
3. Select Camera > Information. The update is necessary if the firmware version is lower than 3.1.22316.
   

Installation procedure

Before installation

1. This software comes with an "EVIDENT END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT". Prior to downloading the software, please read the "EVIDENT END-USER LICENSE AGREEMENT". By downloading the software, you are agreeing to the terms of this AGREEMENT.
2. Caution: Not following the instructions below might permanently render the camera inoperable.
   • Do NOT disconnect the camera or switch off your computer while the firmware is being updated.
   • Do NOT shut down or force quit the firmware updater software while the firmware update is running.
   • Do NOT start/run any application software other than the firmware updater while the update is in progress.
   • Should an error message occur during the firmware update, do NOT disconnect the camera, but repeat the update process for this camera until the update is performed successfully. Close the firmware updater software and restart it before repeating the update process. Click the Yes button if the message is shown for the camera that failed the firmware update. Do not repeat the update for other connected cameras that were already updated successfully. 

Download procedure

1. Click the Download button at the top of this page.
   Download file name: EVIDENTCameraFirmwareUpdater.zip (approximately 18 MB).
2. When an entry form appears, enter all required fields.
3. Unzip the downloaded file and copy the extracted file to a USB memory drive.

Updating the firmware

If you are not using a DP2-AVS license, the time to complete the update is about 4 minutes.

1. Insert the USB memory drive where the firmware update software“EVIDENTCameraFirmwareUpdater.exe” has been copied into the DP2-AOU.
2. Connect a keyboard to the DP2-AOU.
3. Turn on the DP2-AOU.
4. After starting the application, press Ctrl + ALT + Insert on the keyboard at the same time. After the DP2-AOU restarts twice, the desktop mode will start.
5. Double-click the "EVIDENTCameraFirmwareUpdater.exe" file saved on the USB memory drive in the Explorer. After extracting some files, the update dialog will be displayed.

   Please Click the Run button if the following message is shown.
   
    
6. The Firmware updater will list the DP23 camera. Click the Start button to initiate the firmware update. Please connect the DP23 camera to AOU if the DP23 is not displayed.
   
    
7. The software identifies the camera’s current firmware version and presents a message in case the firmware is already up to date.
   
   In this case, it is unnecessary to perform a firmware update.
    
8. Wait for the update process to complete (this may take a few minutes).
   
   Do not touch the keyboard or mouse while the update is in progress.
    
9. After the firmware update is successfully completed, click the Close button to exit the firmware updater.
   
    
10. Double-click the Camera icon on the desktop to launch the DP2-AOU application.
    
     
11. Click the Acquisition Settings button after starting the DP2-AOU software.
    
     
12. Select Camera > Information. The update is complete if it displays firmware version 3.1.22316.
    

If you are using a DP2-AVS license, the time to complete the update is about 5 minutes.

1. Insert the USB memory drive where the update file “EVIDENTCameraFirmwareUpdater.exe“ has been copied into the DP2-AOU.
2. Connect a keyboard to the DP2-AOU.
3. Turn on the DP2-AOU.
4. After starting the application, press Ctrl + Alt + Insert on the keyboard at the same time. After DP2-AOU restarts twice, the desktop mode will start.
5. Launch the DP2-AVS-Accessory on the desktop.
   
    
6. After launching the DP2-AVS-Accessory, click the “Update software or Install driver” button.
   
    
7. The dialog to select the executable file will be displayed. Select "EVIDENTCameraFirmwareUpdater.exe" in the USB memory drive and press the Open button. After extracting some files, the update dialog will be displayed.

Appendix

When the AVS license is activated, the files that can be executed are restricted, so if you want to use a locked USB, you need to self-authenticate and register the unlocking application.
Execute “Register USB Device” of the DP2-AVS-Accessory, select the application for unlocking, and then use it.
