The Future of Scientific Solutions
The APAC Technology Centre, based in Singapore, cocreates automated inspection solutions that empower businesses across the Asia Pacific region.
Benefits of Automated Inspection Workflows
Higher Productivity | Improved Reliability | Safer and More Robust Operations | Reduced Scrap Automation provides significant benefits to industrial inspections. Benefits include higher productivity rates, improved inspection repeatability and reliability, and the removal of operators from potentially dangerous environments. By using technology to automate tasks that are repetitive and tedious, operators can focus on work that adds value. In-line inspection and measurements can also enable factories to optimize processes in real time to reduce scrap and rework. Global adoption of automation is growing rapidly. The World Economic Forum predicts that machines will perform more current work tasks than humans by 2025. This shift toward automation opens the opportunity for workers to learn new skills and enter emerging roles to support automated and streamlined workflows. |
Case Studies and Applications
Robotic X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)Our X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers provide fast, accurate, and nondestructive alloy identification and elemental analysis for a wide range of industries. For instance, a Southeast Asia-based storage and logistics company needed a way to automatically verify the authenticity of critical items. Due to the nature of the items under storage, the involvement of human operators had to be kept to a minimum. The Technology Centre cocreated a robotic XRF solution to provide 100% verification of items under storage. The system was developed in less than two months. In addition, the solution automatically sends the verification result to the company’s digital inventory servers, providing full traceability. Digitizing Inspection DataOur range of precision thickness gauges are used throughout manufacturing industries. The 38DL PLUS™ gauge is used to measure metallic aerospace components, while the Magna-Mike™ 8600 gauge is commonly used in the plastics industry. A Malaysian customer used the Magna-Mike 8600 gauge to control the thickness of plastic packaging. However, the measurement results were documented by hand and then manually entered into their computer-based manufacturing execution system (MES). This process was slow and prone to errors. The customer worked with the Technology Centre to cocreate a software that automatically logs the data in their MES. The solution significantly increased productivity while eliminating data recording errors. The automated NDT solutions developed at the Technology Centre complement our existing in-line NDT systems. |
